The Acer Aspire One 8.9-Inch Netbook – A Quick Review

Weighing barely two pounds, the Acer Aspire One is a mobile internet device ideal for traveling. This little laptop is powered by the new Intel Atom Processor that has allowed the new generation of netbooks to be lighter, but much more powerful than its predecessors. The Intel Atom Processor of Acer Aspire uses only 2.5 watts of power that is much lesser than the 35 watts used by the Intel Core 2 Duo Processor in regular laptops. This low power consumption translates to a longer battery life. The processor also consists of a 533 MHz front side bus and a 512KB L2 cache that is optimized for the quick data transfer on mobile applications.

The Acer Aspire One comes with the Window XP Home Edition that allows you to surf the internet, edit documents, photos, enjoy web-cam chats and many other internet applications. The high-speed 120GB hard drive allows you to store huge amounts of music, videos and documents on the netbook, and if that is not enough, you can be easily upgraded the memory by using an external SD card.

This netbook model also comes with MMC, RS-MMC, MS, MS Pro, headphone, microphone-in, Card Reader SD and built-in stereo speakers. The 8.9-inch CrystalBrite WSVGA LED back-lit display produces great visuals and the operating system is incorporated with Window Live applications such as Windows Live Messenger and Windows Live mail. This notebook also contains an integrated audio card with Microsoft DirectSound compatibility. The 6-cell battery has an impressive life span, lasting up to 5.5 hours on a single charge.
